Consumer confidence is rising
Posted by Jason Apollo Voss on Apr 28, 2009 in Blog | 0 commentsHello everyone,
Yesterday you may have seen the report that consumer confidence is finally rising. The Conference Board (the source of the data) said that in April consumer confidence rose to 39.2 from a revised March figure of 26.9, that is a rise of 12.3 points or an increase of 45.7%. While a figure of 39.2 is still considered a depressed figure, the marked increase in one month is truly phenomenal. Consumer confidence typically leads consumer spending so hopefully we will start to see a calming amongst consumers that will lead to further increases in confidence and commensurate increases in their purchases. Because approximately 60-66% of the economy is made up of consumer spending, this is an important figure to continue tracking.
I’ll keep watching.
Smiles sent your way!
