In the U.K. private investors are rising
Posted by Jason Apollo Voss on Dec 23, 2010 in Blog | 1 commentThis morning’s edition of the Financial Times is reporting that the number and level of private investors in the United Kingdom has hit its highest level since May of 2008. Recall that dark month was where Lehman Brothers collapsed and subsequently set in motion an ugly cause and effect chain, contributing to the onset of the Great Recession. Additionally, stock market levels in Britain are also near pre-Lehman crash levels.
Analysis: That investors in the U.K. feel confident enough to re-enter the financial markets in such volume, and in the midst of a European debt crisis, is compelling. Clearly, the global recession is behind us. It is time for investors to begin focusing on opportunity in equal proportion to capital preservation.
Importance grade: 6; the London financial markets don’t have the same gravity in the world financial situation that U.S. financial markets do. Nonetheless, this is still important news.
