Did you see the big drop in the financial markets today? Give me a <span id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_0\" class=\"blsp-spelling-error\">friggin<\/span>&#8216; break. There was no news associated with the drop at all. What&#8217;s more, the Dow Jones was down a very mild 39 or so points midday and then closed down over 179 on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no<\/span> news. So why the big drop? You cannot blame profit taking as the market had been down for the previous 4 sessions and yesterday&#8217;s big rise didn&#8217;t recoup those losses. No, I am attributing the big drop today to the actions of big <span id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\" class=\"blsp-spelling-error\">assed<\/span> jerk hedge funds. Some sort of momentum thing happened today such that there were huge equity sell orders placed toward the end of the day. The bond markets also were <span id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\" class=\"blsp-spelling-error\">topsy<\/span>&#8211;<span id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_3\" class=\"blsp-spelling-error\">turvy<\/span>, too. That suggests some big time leveraged hedge fund action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I may be wrong about this, but one of the reasons for the big collapse in the economy are trader traitors who cause mass volatility in the financial markets and it looks as if they are back in the market. Ugh! I had hoped that the losses of the last 14 months would have shaken some of them out of the market permanently. But alas, it appears I was wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">As an investor, I would not worry about today&#8217;s decline as there was no news that necessitated a reevaluation of the economy.
