{"id":2434,"date":"2010-12-07T05:51:05","date_gmt":"2010-12-07T12:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonapollovoss.local\/?p=2434"},"modified":"2018-08-17T08:49:19","modified_gmt":"2018-08-17T12:49:19","slug":"and-i-thought-i-thought-of-it-first-a-payroll-tax-reduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web\/2010\/12\/07\/and-i-thought-i-thought-of-it-first-a-payroll-tax-reduction\/","title":{"rendered":"And I thought I thought of it first: a payroll tax reduction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Hello folks!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I have been saying for quite some time this year that one way to stimulate the economy <strong>and<\/strong>job creation was to have a payroll tax holiday.\u00a0 See the &#8220;game of chicken&#8221; post as an example.\u00a0 Now the Obama Administration is discussing the same thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Late last night the Wall Street Journal was reporting the news that the U.S. Executive Branch was considering lowering the Social Security tax that workers pay from 6.2% of pay to 4.2%.\u00a0 The net benefit to a worker making $50,000 is $1,000 additional dollars in the pocket.\u00a0 Not bad, but honestly, if you really wanted to jump start the hiring wave the rate needs to be lowered even further.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">At this point, the details are not important.\u00a0 What is important is that the payroll tax reduction &#8211; which I thought of (thank you very much) earlier this year &#8211; is now on the national radar and seriously being considered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I am headed to Alabama today to have a much more extensive interview with Suzie Wiley of WYAM in Alabama.\u00a0 See you on the other side of the week!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Jason<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello folks!
