{"id":2780,"date":"2011-01-06T04:06:28","date_gmt":"2011-01-06T11:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonapollovoss.local\/?p=2780"},"modified":"2018-08-16T17:38:25","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T21:38:25","slug":"another-chinese-not-panda-bear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web\/2011\/01\/06\/another-chinese-not-panda-bear\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Chinese (not Panda) bear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Andy Xie, ex-Morgan Stanley economist, seems to be drawing similar conclusions as me\u00a0when looking at the Chinese economy.\u00a0 Writing for China Century Weekly he made many similar statements to those I made in my <a href=\"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web2010\/12\/13\/what-my-intuition-tells-me-now-2011-predictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2011 Predictions post<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">For example, I said the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">&#8220;The Chinese are on the brink of two ugly things: massive asset inflation and the bursting of that bubble, and social unrest&#8230;I would also expect a conflict with the U.S. over its currency, the Yuan.\u00a0 The U.S. &#8230;\u00a0in the form of Barack Obama, will pressure China on its currency.\u00a0\u00a0The Chinese will fight back to increase the fervor of nationalism there\u00a0to distract from their own internal economic problems.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">My\u00a0statement compares with Andy Xie&#8217;s statement:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">&#8220;The most likely candidates to trigger the next global crisis are the US\u2019s sovereign debt or China\u2019s inflation. When one goes down first, the other can prolong its economic cycle. China may have won the last race.
