{"id":2806,"date":"2011-01-08T05:35:39","date_gmt":"2011-01-08T12:35:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonapollovoss.local\/?p=2806"},"modified":"2018-08-16T17:27:49","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T21:27:49","slug":"investors-are-in-a-buying-mood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web\/2011\/01\/08\/investors-are-in-a-buying-mood\/","title":{"rendered":"Investors are in a buying mood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Friday&#8217;s Wall Street Journal reported a very interesting thing, that corporations had sold $35 billion worth of bonds in the first week of the year.\u00a0 Last year saw the biggest opening week since 1995.\u00a0 So, in other words, investors are clearly in a buying mood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">For me, this is a strong indication that folks are feeling comfortable enough about the credit worthiness of businesses and about the strength of the economy that they are willing to move from high liquidity (i.e. cash) to low liquidity (bonds).\u00a0 This is no small thing.\u00a0 Back in the fearful days of the Great Recession the credit\/bond markets seized up.\u00a0 Businesses that had long been reliable couldn&#8217;t get their banks to lend them money for even short-term cash needs.\u00a0 It was a catastrophe!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">This sort of seizure only happens when the trust has been drained from the system and paranoia is rampant.\u00a0 Those painful moments have definitively passed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">That report also indicates that corporations are willing to take on more debt &#8211; $35 billion worth, in fact.\u00a0 To take on a fixed obligation like paying interest means that businesses are more confident in the stability of their cash flows.\u00a0 In turn, that is an expression of their confidence in the future of the economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Can you see that small pieces of information are often indicative of important things?\u00a0 Thought so!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Jason<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friday&#8217;s Wall Street Journal reported a very interesting thing, that corporations had sold $35 billion worth of bonds in the first week of the year.\u00a0 Last year saw the biggest opening week since 1995.\u00a0 So, in other words, investors are clearly in a buying mood.
