Poor&#8217;s both warned the United States on its credit rating.\u00a0 The concern is, of course, with the spendthrift ways of the Legislative as stoked by the Executive branch &#8211; and over multiple election cycles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">This story would normally be news enough and probably will be the center of attention of many financial bloggers.\u00a0 But not here it won&#8217;t.\u00a0 Why?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">While interesting, I don&#8217;t consider this to be news.\u00a0 Both Moody&#8217;s and Standard &amp; Poor&#8217;s have access to the same publicly available information that we all do to assess this situation.\u00a0 But then that <strong>is<\/strong> the point.\u00a0 Since when, even given access to the same data that we all have access to, have Moody&#8217;s and Standard &amp; Poor&#8217;s threatened the United States with a credit downgrade?\u00a0 To my knowledge, NEVER.\u00a0 Wow, how things have changed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I consider this to be a very, very healthy sign that the credit ratings agencies have permanently shifted.\u00a0 They have been chastened and transformed by the Great Recession.\u00a0 That means a more honest and forthright credit ratings crew.\u00a0 That means actual analysis has a higher chance of actually taking place with the walls of these storied organizations.\u00a0 Amen!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Have I been saying this sort of thing for awhile?\u00a0 Check out my posts from:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web2008\/10\/13\/changes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">13 October, 2008<\/a> (!) entitled, &#8220;Changes&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web2009\/03\/10\/a-proposal-for-change-part-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10 March, 2009<\/a> entitled, &#8220;A Proposal for Change, Part I&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web2009\/03\/17\/a-proposal-for-change-part-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">17 March, 2009<\/a> entitled, &#8220;A Proposal for Change, Part II&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In those posts I emphasized that the institutions that stood by and did nothing, or worse, contributed to the meltdown that led to The Great Recession had to change.\u00a0 So a public condemnation of the ratings agencies of the world&#8217;s most powerful nation, the United States, is a radical shift.\u00a0 Yea!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Jason<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Early this morning in London news that both Moody&#8217;s and Standard &amp;
