{"id":400,"date":"2010-04-19T10:49:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-19T14:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intuitiveinvestor.com\/web\/?p=400"},"modified":"2018-08-20T15:38:29","modified_gmt":"2018-08-20T19:38:29","slug":"earnings-season-tepid-so-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jasonapollovoss.com\/web\/2010\/04\/19\/earnings-season-tepid-so-far\/","title":{"rendered":"Earnings season tepid so far"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">A quick missive:\u00a0I have neither seen nor heard any amazing news this earnings season.\u00a0 That is, nothing that would cause me to change my view that the economy is only escaping from the recession gradually.\u00a0 Nothing that would cause me to be a stock market bull the way I was a year ago in March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">What I have seen is corporations doing an excellent job of expense management.\u00a0 An okay job of generating new revenues.\u00a0 Consumers still a bit shell-shocked, and most importantly, an unemployment rate that hangs over the financial markets like dark storm clouds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I would like to hear businesses, besides the Apple iPad, talking about new and innovative products or new and innovative ways of doing business that might lead to actual <em>real economic growth<\/em>.\u00a0 Unfortunately, much of the corporate &#8220;innovation&#8221; of the last decade took the form of: financial engineering.\u00a0 Meaning that new and innovative financial products drove the mortgage market which drove everything.\u00a0 You know the rest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Jason<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A quick missive:\u00a0I have neither seen nor heard any amazing news this earnings season.\u00a0 That is, nothing that would cause me to change my view that the economy is only escaping from the recession gradually.\u00a0 Nothing that would cause me to be a stock market bull the way I was a year ago in March.
